The
below invitation has been sent to various email addresses. We are going
to try and keep Justin from
the computer until he goes home so he doesn't see this! We just wanted
to make sure that everyone
possible could be reached with this invite. Please let anyone you know
that would be interested in
welcoming home Justin and Corri about the following:
OUR MIRACLE IS COMING HOME!!!!
The
day has arrived! Justin and Corri will return home to live at 1308 Jefferson
St.
in Brownsburg on Saturday, September 25th. Dismissal time is tentatively
set for 10:00 a.m.
However,
by now, you all know we do not do things in a small way, so in order to
welcome them
home Stichnoth/Washburn style, we invite anyone who is freed up that morning
to congregate
along Jefferson St to greet them as they arrive. Oh-- but that is not
all. We are going to
release helium balloons to the heavens with a message attached. The message
will include the
website address/contact information, brief words describing our joy at
welcoming Justin & Corri
home and our Praise to God.
PLEASE
ARRIVE BEFORE 9:30 A.M. at the house. Parking may be a hurdle we will
have to
overcome-without using anyone else’s drive or yard, you may have
to be creative. We can pass
the wait-time in the backyard and refreshments will be available.
Birthday bunch-T-shirts would be great.
PLEASE CHECK YOUR E-MAIL and/or the website THE FRIDAY NIGHT BEFORE FOR
ANY
UNFORSEEN LAST MINUTE CHANGES.
If you have any questions, or are coming from a distance and want to make
a last minute check-in
Saturday morning before coming, please feel free to call Rachel at
219-869-8695.
The
immediate family will share a first-day-home meal around the dining table
at noon. Time,
practicality, and numbers prohibit us from inviting everyone to join us!
You
have all shared in our pain, our waiting and wondering, our praying, our
hoping, our
anticipation, SO, we invite you to share in this occasion of JOY!!!!!
OUR
LOVE AND GRATITUDE, The families of Justin and Corri. |

Also, a Thank You to Bonnie at Restored Treasures & Memories in Indianapolis

expertise in her photo restoration work for this project! You both were
wonderful to work with!! Thank you from all of us.

Video Files
I will add video files to this section.
I am learning as I go along with this.
Click on the links to the left for your
viewing pleasure. (when you click, allow
your player some time to download
so when you play it back, it won't be
choppy. You can do this by pressing
pause on your media player while it
is downloading. It will take 1 - 4 minutes
to download completely on a fast
connection.) ENJOY!!!
Sorry about the large video files. If you have
a phone line connection to the internet, I wouldn't
bother trying to download these. I am currently
working on learning how to make them smaller
files and yet still be a decent resolution.

'Without A Paddle'
As many know,
yesterday (Sept. 9th),
was Justin's 27th Birthday. A group of us
went to the movies and saw the comedy,
"Without A Paddle". My mom had made
a special miniature cake for everyone and
we had an awesome time together!
The movie was hilarious!
Our Aunt Cheryl, Uncle Jerry and
Cousin Kara joined us also in
celebrating but came shortly after the
photo was taken.
I have many photos and much to update
and will get it online over the weekend!
Justin is doing fantabulous!!!

Sept.
9, 2004
Family gathered
around for a dinner there
at the hospital. On behalf of all of the
family, we had 4 photos taken by
Justin enlarged and professionally framed.
On each photo, is a motivational saying.
I think he will be putting these up next to
his weight lifting and excersise area in
his house. He took outstanding photos!
Mom made
Justin's birthday cake in the
shape of a rose. The rose is special to
Justin. She made one of his favorites, Spice
cake. Dinner was kind of a little bit of
everything. Our aunt and uncle brought
watermelon. Mom and dad brought back
subway for all. Justin likes O'Charley's
cheesy potato soup and he got some
crab rangoon from another restaurant.
It was a really great dinner shared together!
I will be
posting a picture of the front and
back of the t-shirt you see in all of these
photos. Kathy, Kerry, and Rachel
gave these to many people on his birthday.
On the front, which you will see clearer
when I get a photo up, it has the definition
for the word 'Elevate' and then on the back
is a wonderful photo of Justin with the word
'Elevate' underneath of it. The photo is the
photo you see on the homepage of this
website. His Therapists, Family and Friends
that day all wore these! |

(notice Corri
in the background lying
down - like she has nothing better to do)...lol
Love
you Corri!! |
At
Kindred Hospital
Kindred Hospital
is where Justin was
at before coming to RHI. He went there
first to be weened off the ventilator. One
day there, Justin made up his mind that
he didn't want to go back on the ventilator
and from that day forward, he has been
breathing on his own.
The top photo
of Corri and Justin has
more of a story to it than what you see.
At this time, Justin was able to do VERY
little with his upper body. His arm was
positioned by Corri to be around her.
Today, Justin can do that on his own
among many other things. He also still has
the Jackson trake in his neck. They left this
in for a few days 'just in case'.
This second
photo was taken while we
were doing lower body stretching and
excersising for him and with him. This was
Jayden's first time in being able to help
Uncle J. Jayden was wanting to do anything
he could to help him and he really enjoyed
being apart of his therapy and still does.
After a few days at Kindred, Jayden was
able to see Uncle J for the first time.
Thanks Andy
for the photos!! |

Justin worked really hard today. That is
everyday but today he got to do something
he has been interested in trying out and that
is what they call a type of 'rowing machine'.
His hands are strapped to the pedals so he
doesn't have to worry about them slipping
off and can just concentrate on working
his muscles. He went for a total of 10
minutes in two 5 minute increments. I
don't know what the setting was at but it
was set so there was some good resistence.

In OT, he
stacked plastic pegs again only
this time without ANY assistance. The
photo you see is just after he had placed
the tenth peg on top!!! The most he has
ever done. He was very pleased.. |

The trip
to the Wedding!
(Saturday 28th - 2004)
Sorry, Judy...didn't
realize you went too!!
Justin was escorted by both Don & Judy.
Thank you,
Ryan, for the photos.
If anyone
else has any that should be
posted, let me know. :)

He walked with a walker today.
The walker has two wheels on the front
two legs and regular back two legs.
On either side of the walker,
were pads for him to rest his arms on
and lean on. He did awesome. They
really commended him on the good work.
His control with his legs is getting so
much better. His physical therapists
only had her hands close to his hips to
help with balance. |
|

8/30/2004
Justin played checkers today in his
Recreational Therapy time. It doesn't
quite look like the checker pieces we're
used to. Justin won today's game!
They are tied with her winning one at
Connect 4 and now him one at
Checkers. She is ready to take him down
in Battleship, she says, when he is
ready for the smaller game pieces. |
|
This
photo was taken on 8/23/2004.
He was just getting ready to walk between
the parallel bars for just the second day.
You can see his physical therapist with him
in this photo. She has currently assisted him
in standing up and getting his hips, legs, and
feet positioned for walking. Justin does the
work but she aids in balancing him & letting
him know everything he needs to think about
and do. He is unable to look down at his feet
because of the halo. He proceeds to make 4
trips through the parallell bars! |

Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, IN
This was our view out of our room every day
and night from the Methodist Towers located
right across the street. Connecting the
Hospital and the Methodist Towers was an
enclosed walkway over the street. |

is working out his right arm in a sling while
his left hand is being electrically stimulated.

|
8/24/2004
Justin was put on a treadmill!! His weight &
balance is being assisted and held up by the
contraption around his waist and the buckles
and straps over his chest. He did awesome.
He went a total of 448 feet in about 6
minutes. That was in two sessions with about
a couple of minutes of break inbetween the
two. He was picking up his legs and taking
the steps. The two girls on the side of him
are there to help guide his feet. He doesn't
have complete feeling as to how they are
being placed when he steps sometimes, so
his therapists help with that.
